To top the weekend off

So to top our weekend off...On Sunday was the La Jolla Half Marathon....I was not running in any part of it this year...and the bummerness (if that is a word) of it did not set it till I was there this morning cheering others on....I loved running the 5K portion of it last year...so I am determined to make it a priority next year....but enough about me.
I had two great friends running in it this year....Jill ran it for the 2nd year in a row and did a great job at hitting a personal best on the course....and Kat ran it in great time as well for a first timer....Kat and Jill also ran the Carlsbad Half in January and Kat plans on doing the Americas Finest in August to complete the triple crown....I am so proud of them both and am so lucky to have such motivating friends....great job gals.....Hope you are recovering and soaking those muscles tonight.

What a weekend.....

(My Abi...this shot sure suites her, I am a bit nervous of the havoc she may have on the plants..)

This weekend was so much fun....we had fun doing all we did...no stress and no regrets as Sunday comes to a close.

My father in law, Paul, made us three wonderful raised planter boxes....so i could have a vegetable garden....so on Saturday he came over and installed them. So I had to go to Home Depot and pick my vegetables, soil and accessories....and there are always accessories at Home Depot.

We planted and planted till almost sun down and the results are great....I am so excited I can not wait for my first crop......

Here are the 2 bigger planters.....holding squash and bell peppers and hot peppers....mmmmm You will notice the small container pots in the back.....my accessories are planted in them...I decided to add herbs to my yard as well...some basil and cilantro here....we also have chives and oregano up front....

Up close and personal with all the peppers...

And the best is saved for last.....Roma Tomatoes!!!!!My favorite!

what not to do when its 102!

So we had a nice part of Sunday to ourselves. Brian's parents took the girls for the afternoon...they were planting vegetables and swimming....so brian and I wanted to get some fun excersise in....so my idea, lets go on a hike and grab a snack afterwards. So the only problem when we made these plans we did not know it was going to be 102 at our hiking destination. But we (Me) had a good attitude about it. We were going up Cowles Mountain out in East County San Diego. It was HOT! I was so sad I just could not make it up more than half way....I was dying....but my wonderful husband was determined to make it to the top...and he did. Yay....for Brian! I ran down the mountain and waited for him in the shade at the bottom. Yay for the shade!

So after that we headed to Casa de Pico in Grossmont Center and had some Margaritas and enjoyed a little Mexican Food snack....

Beautiful Beach weather

Well we have a heat wave here and so the beach was calling us on Sat. We met our friends Dan & Jill down at dog beach in Del Mar....the kids played the dog played and we had a nice relaxing evening....yay for the beach!

5 on friday- but its saturday(oops)

Ok for Susie this is the most recent 5 google searches.....At least done by me on my computer.

  1. YMCA swim lessons-the Y by us here is Escondido has just built a new pool and it opens on Monday so I want to get Abi in swim lessons before they fill up.
  2. Blue Fins Swim Team- trying to find a swim team Rory can start on even though she does not officially know any strokes.
  3. Starfall- Rory came home from School and told me to let her play on the computer at starfall.com because she does in her computer class....so I had to check it out. It is so cute and she has been enjoying time on it everyday now and Abi sits with her too....talk about occupied.
  4. What is the 912 project? I have heard about this a lot the last few days so I wanted to find out more about it.....
  5. Homeland security Right Wing Radical report....I just had to read what all the talk was about.....yikes I was shocked after reading the 11 pages.

So Not a lot of exciting stuff but I love google and how easy it is to find stuff.......

Tax Day

Need I say more!
Today marks a historic day....well for some. As I prep'd all of our envelopes, checks and papers to be mailed out today I was just getting more and more down in the dumps....you see it gets to me that we have to keep paying these taxes and they keep getting higher and our economy is the dumps right now. Times are already tough and to be getting business is great but at the same time you are hesitant because it means more taxes if your business succeeds and does not fail....crazy what you think of. I had so many things to prep for today...estimated taxes, state taxes, federal taxes and payment plan papers, quarterly employment taxes....yikes I am taxed out and papered out too.....What gets me more is that for small businesses you have your personal taxes, employment taxes and estimated quarterly taxes all due at the same time....who ever thought about that....so basically you take all my money and what is to be left for the rest of the month.....nada! Well I am ready for a new day, a happy day....so April 16th I am ready for you!

L.I.F.E.

Life has been a bit crazy here...I sometimes feel like I am loosing my mind...but I am sure I am not alone in that. You know coming back from vacation is ok but I feel like I am having to play catch up with school, laundry, chores around the house. Just crazy. So tonight blogging is actually helping me relax and take a time out for myself. So I will sit back enjoy a nice flank steak, artichoke and some salad and hopefully be in bed before 10. And the day will start tomorrow and on it goes, LIFE.

Happy Palm Sunday!

God is so great! I was sitting in church today just thinking about blessings and I really have a whole bunch of them. We often get caught up in what we don't have and forget all that we do....and so today I present blessings.

I have 2 healthy girls
I have a wonderful husband who loves the Lord and who loves me
We have tons of family who love us and support us
Brian is working and is still able to support our family
I get to stay home and home school the kiddos
We have 2 working vehicles ( at this point..and God provided when we need them fixed)
I have a roof over my head and a house I am lucky to have
We have the freedom unlike any other country in the world
I can worship my Lord
I can pray openly and freely
I can read the Bible freely
I live in San Diego ( most perfect city in the country...at least if you ask me)
I live and bathe in sunshine almost everyday
I can wear flip flops pretty much year round
I have the beach to the west and the desert and mountains on the other side
I have a wonderful group of ladies to do bible study with
I have wonderful and God fearing women who I can call my friends and support system
I have recovered from my car accident ( and am able to exercise once again)
I am healthy

Well those are just a few.

Thank you Lord for all you have done for us and given to us and thank you for your sacrifice....I pray as we go into this Passion Week that we can reflect on you and your Son and all you have done for us.

My new Wishlist Item

Brian says I am a true "open west" kind of gal....I love the open land, small towns and rugged coastline....now could I ever give up southern California...only the Lord knows...and I leave it up to him as to wear he puts us...but until them I need 2 new things...a new pair of Levi's and a new pair of boots....
Here is the scoop...we were in Cannon Beach and I was chatting with a lady while we were waiting to eat lunch at Bill's Tavern (the fish and chips were great) and I saw here boots...and instantly I was drawn to them...they were not like any cowboy (or girl) boots I have ever seen before...they did not have a heal or narrow toe...so I inquired...what brand and were they comfy and you know the usual....did they come in fun colors???? She them proceeded to tell me she loved them, they were practical and more like a Dr. Marten then a boot....so now I need them....I wore Dr. Martens in high school and have since missed them terribly...so click on this link to check out these babies....they come in a variety of colors and 8" and 10" heights...( I prefer the 8) and even kid ones too....oh my!!!!

Most recent Family Picture

It is very rare to get a shot of all 4 of us in a picture together ( unless Susie happened to take our pic) so we asked this nice lady who seemed to be camera savy to take our pic during our day trip to Cannon Beach on the beautiful Oregon Coast......

I took this one of Brian and the girls in front of Haystack Rock ( its really famous there but I had never heard of it????)

And of course one with the girls and I....this was an abnormally busy day there...the whole state of Oregon gets their Spring Break the same week....so everyone was visiting Haystack Rock I suppose....

What did I do with the Franklin???

As a follow up to an earlier post....I took the 100 dollar bill and handed it over to my wonderful hubby who I knew would have the wisdom on how to spend it and we together spent it on our trip towards gas and food on our way up the coast.....good thinkin husband!
